Materials Needed:

  • Rose stem
  • Potato
  • Drill bit
  • Jar
  • Potting soil
  • Plastic bottle

Instructions:

  1. Select Your Rose Bush: Choose the rose bush you want to propagate. Start by removing all the leaves from the stem and decapitate the rose about three centimeters below the flower.
  2. Cut the Stem: Make a crosswise cut at a 45-degree angle on the stem to encourage rooting.
  3. Prepare the Potato: Use the drill bit to poke a hole in the potato, just big enough for the rose stem to fit snugly.
  4. Planting: Cover the bottom of your pot with about five centimeters of soil. Place the potato with the rose stem on top.
  5. Fill with Soil: Add more soil to the pot until it’s full. The hardest part is done!
  6. Create a Greenhouse: Take a plastic bottle and cut off the bottom. Gently place it over the rose branch to create a mini greenhouse. When watering, pour water around the base, not inside the bottle.

Now, all that’s left to do is wait and hope your little plant flourishes! You should see the first shoots appear quickly.
